Challenge to the Kent community

“This is your City!”

Kent residents, business leaders, and educators have an opportunity to engage with Mayor, Council and City staff on Mayor Suzette Cooke’s proposed initiatives for Kent.  A brief overview of Mayor’s Cooke’s initiatives are listed below.

2008 State of the City Address (PDF, 50KB)

  • Mayor’s Advisory Team: Will be composed of individuals from Kent’s distinct geographic areas.
     
  • Citizens Budget Advisory Team: This Board will review the proposed annual budget before it is presented to the City Council.
     
  • Transportation system improvements: A transportation master planning process that looks to transportation issues over 30 years.
     
  • City-wide cleanup: Zero tolerance for graffiti to be part of a broader volunteer program to clean up Kent streets.
     
  • Development Permit process: A citizen’s task force will review the permit process for timeliness, clarity and consistency.
     
  • Stronger neighborhood identification and communications: A pilot program with two neighborhoods will launch in 2006.
